The official Euro 2012 Poland - Ukraine logo has been revealed today's afternoon. Has it liven up people's expectations? Well, me and my friends had various propositions for what the logo would include, here are some of them:- A glass of vodka (anything but "Gdanska" - it's a trash :/)
- Our mates' face (some people thought he'd be a perfect mascot for upcoming championships.)
- a White Eagle (p.s. No idea why this name is supposed to be written with capital letters ;P) with...the...ukrainian...eagle? ;D
- a ball (no way!)
- some folk ornaments, like on Zywiec beer.
- nothing
Two elements I find most eye-catching are two flowers based on co-hosts national flags colours - one is red/white (Poland), the other one contains yellow/blue (Ukraine).
The last element - a ball with golden flower ornaments was probably supposed to be on the foreground, but in my opinion the two flowers are the part of logo which repels a lot of people the most. The style of entire work is fine in my opinion - the traditional Eastern European ornaments gently touched by modern feeling. If I were to review it, I'd change the green stem shade. This one doesn't really stand up with the green on my grannies' old tablecloths and tableware.
As for the background - I beg...anyone - get rid of that violet!. It's not only a thing I hate violet/pink, it also fits the logo as great as Thames flows in Japan :/
The font used for EURO 2012 POLAND UKRAINE sign fits the rest well in my opinion. I wouldn't use any other.
Okey guys, I have to study for another tests :/ I hate this semester, did I mention it?
Oh, back to the logo - this one is created by Brandia Central - gotta browse around their portfolio one day. Photo comes from Uefa.com.
